Introduction
The 2026 edition of Il Maestro del Gusto – Italian Food Event Hong Kong takes place on April 18 and 19 at The Peninsula Hong Kong. It represents a more structured phase of development following the inaugural 2024 edition.
This Italian gourmet event showcases authentic Italian food production and craftsmanship by connecting raw materials, territory, and human expertise. It goes beyond the traditional exhibition model to offer immersive, live experiences, where the public is invited to understand not only the final products but also the cultural and human journey behind them, through:
Live craft demonstrations such as pasta making, pizza preparation, and other traditional Italian food techniques by distinguished guests and Italian figures
Discussion panels and seminars led by authoritative representatives of Italian supply chains and protection bodies
Guided sensory experiences from over 30 producers of artisanal Italian food and beverage specialties
Powered by Mercato Gourmet’s commitment to quality products, authentic stories, and sustainability (supporting family farms), Il Maestro del Gusto Hong Kong promotes direct experiences of knowledge and exchange. It involves more than 30 Italian food producers, mostly multigenerational family businesses from different regions of Italy, who are present in person as cultural figures.
This unique format is now consolidated as a cultural platform focused on education and the transmission of knowledge, in line with UNESCO’s December 2025 recognition of Italian cuisine as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Il Maestro del Gusto is an Italian cultural market fair based in Hong Kong. It is a place where authentic Italian food becomes a connector – a tool for dialogue, education, and relationship‑building across cultures and generations. Born from the experience of Mercato Gourmet Hong Kong, it has evolved from its inaugural 2024 edition into a recurring Italian gourmet event.

“As the shop grew, my commitment deepened,” Chef Gianni reflects. “I became more professional in importing and distributing authentic Italian food products, but my true purpose remained the same: to support the small, family‑run Italian producers who entrusted me with their creations.”
From humble beginnings with just 100 items, Mercato Gourmet has grown into one of Hong Kong’s leading Italian gourmet marketplaces, with four stores on Hong Kong Island (Wan Chai, Central, Happy Valley, and Stanley).
Mercato Gourmet Gran Selezione is the premium tier of Mercato Gourmet, launched in 2021. Located inside The Peninsula Hong Kong, it offers a 2,800‑square‑foot Italian gourmet destination dedicated to carefully selected products and tasting experiences.
